Describe your evolution:

Terebinth Capital has been deliberate in positioning ourselves as the market leader for developing and advancing young female talent within the investment management space. We are a majority black female owned and led asset manager and pride ourselves in skills transfer and promoting for diversity, equity and inclusion within our organisation.

Skills transfer is central to our transformation goals and is closely linked to reducing key-person risk. Our founding documents were clear in our objective to be an industry leader in sustainable transformation through mainly organic skills transfer and true ownership development.

AUM growth is central to this strategy as it enables us to secure budgets to employ analysts with a key focus on black and female talent. Therefore, we are deliberate in communicating the continuity plan so that it is ingrained in senior and junior staff as they enter the business.

Describe the impact your evolution has had in response to its identified challenges and targeted outcomes.

We have been able to successfully develop from junior analyst level incoming team members and create an environment for them to grow into areas they are best suited to. Our approach has been to allow exposure to all areas of the front office, even if individuals join us with core competencies already, be they theoretical or practical.

Our succession planning framework includes skills transfer within specialist areas, as well as cross-product training. This broadening in skillsets provides an opportunity to identify the next generation of leaders and senior portfolio managers. We have created an enabling environment for women investment professionals to thrive in Asset Management.

Please see the attached Investment Strategy that is managed by a female lead portfolio manager which has achieved superior risk adjusted returns and recently won a raging bull award within its fund category. This is testament to our objective of being a diverse equitable and inclusive asset manager that fosters and develops female talent.
