Default investment strategy
Default Investment Strategies are designed to automatically allocate members retirement savings into portfolios suited to their age in relation to the retirement age set by their employer. This approach, known as life-staging, aims to help members achieve an appropriate asset allocation as they approach retirement.
Under the Default Investment Strategy, 100% of member's accumulated retirement savings are initially invested in the Sasfin BCI Prudential Fund, which is managed with a more aggressive approach and targets long-term capital growth.
Members who are 2 to 7 years away from their Normal Retirement Age (NRA) are moved into the Sasfin BCI Balanced Fund, a medium-risk portfolio.
Those within 2 years of the NRA are transitioned to the Sasfin BCI Stable Fund, a more conservative investment option designed to preserve capital.
Members have the flexibility to opt out of the default life-stage strategy at any time. Members may choose a different life-stage portfolio that better aligns their personal circumstances and the guidance of their financial adviser. Changes can be made by submitting a switch form through theg fund administrator.
