Ninety One is pleased to announce the appointment of Lumka Ngqola-Sebone as Client Director of its SA Institutional Business. In her new role, Lumka will spearhead relationships with some of the firm’s largest institutional clients.

Ngqola-Sebone brings a wealth of experience to Ninety One. She began her career as a trainee accountant at National Treasury and then worked at the IDC for 4 years, where she served as an account manager and deal maker. Notably, she played a key role in the Vergezocht High Oleic Oil deal, which later received the Product of the Year Award in 2013.

Before joining Ninety One, Ngqola-Sebone spent 8 years at Harith General Partners, where she served on investee company boards and board sub-committees. Her experience includes project development and transaction origination, particularly in the ICT and transportation sectors. Ngqola-Sebone was involved in significant projects such as the commissioning of a Tier 3-data centre in Lilongwe, Malawi, and oversaw the Lanseria International Airport and Beitbridge Border Post investments on behalf of Harith, amongst others.

Commenting on her appointment, Natalie Phillips, Deputy Managing Director at Ninety One, said, “We are delighted to have Lumka join our firm. Her strong infrastructure investment experience will significantly complement the skill set within our client-facing team.”

Ngqola-Sebone cites several reasons for joining Ninety One, one of which is the firm’s global footprint and reach, which she believes will provide invaluable exposure to her.  “It’s also important for me that the values of an organisation resonate with me. I like that Ninety One not only wants to provide good investment outcomes for its clients, but also strives to do so whilst making a difference in people’s lives and protecting the planet.”
