Alexforbes receives recognition for the success of its transformation journey

Alexforbes recently received recognition of its demonstrable progress towards influencing transformation in the asset management industry. It won the Association of Black Securities & Investment Professionals (ABSIP) Award for the Most Transformed Investment/Asset Consultant, was awarded the Black Management Forum (BMF) Sandton Branch Transformation Innovator (Corporate) Award and also reached Level 1 B-BBEE rating.
The ABSIP award, which was given at the organisation’s annual gala dinner on 3 November 2022, recognises the asset consulting firm that demonstrates its transformation record, and its commitment to allocating to, and supporting the growth of black asset managers. The Black Management Forum (BMF) Sandton Branch Transformation Innovator (Corporate) Award was presented in the presence of former SARB Governor Tito Mboweni and Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Dr Nkosazani Dlamini-Zuma.
Ann Leepile, Chief Executive, Alexforbes Investments, says both awards affirm efforts by the company in shaping a more inclusive asset management industry. “Our recently launched transformation policy which is set to make a lasting positive impact on the asset management industry, the increase in allocation of investment mandates to top-rated black asset managers, industry collaborations as well as the structured training of black employees in our business all contributed to winning these awards,” she says.
The criteria for the ABSIP award are:
Greatest absolute or demonstrable progress (over 3-year period) in transformation of firm – with reference to all categories of B-BBEE scorecard
Increase in assets allocated to black investment managers – absolute and increase over 3-year period
Commitment to training and development of young black people to join the industry as consultants
Show existing systems and processes for supporting black managers
Be able to demonstrate the appointment of black service providers
Be able to demonstrate examples of social impact with tangible outcomes
She also says achieving 1 B-BBEE rating at the first audit reaffirms the company’s commitment to using transformation as a strategic driver of its business and play a role in creating an inclusive society and a transformed asset management industry.
Concluding, Leepile says Alexforbes has started an exciting journey to build a future for clients that delivers on growth, inclusivity and sustainability, noting “this is a future we can all connect with.”
